What Makes Our Shutters Different

Each stile (the vertical edge of the shutter panel) is made from multiple layers of timber bonded under pressure, with the grain running in alternating directions. This construction prevents warping, twisting, or bowing — especially important for shutters fitted behind windows exposed to heat and temperature changes. The result? Panels that stay straight, stable, and beautiful for many years.

Inside every Ideal Shutters panel is a discreet aluminium reinforcement supporting the moving parts. This ensures the louvres operate smoothly and quietly, without stiffness or squeaks developing over time. Cheaper shutters often fix their mechanisms directly into the wood, which wears down and causes rough or uneven movement. Aluminium reinforcement keeps everything running perfectly.

Our shutters feature a concealed internal tilt system, hidden inside the panel for a clean, modern finish. Every louvre moves in perfect sync, providing smooth operation and better light control. Some alternatives use a small rod at the back (known as a “clearview” tilt). While subtle, these rods are weaker and can fail over time — and they don’t block light as effectively.

We use recessed magnets that sit flush within the frame for a cleaner look and tighter panel closure. This helps reduce light gaps, keeps the panels perfectly aligned, and adds to the refined finish of every installation. You’ll notice it every time you close your shutters — that solid, satisfying click that says “quality.”

Every shutter we supply is coated with a UV-resistant finish, protecting the surface from fading, yellowing, or peeling in sunlight. Even on south-facing windows, your shutters will retain their rich, consistent colour for years to come.
